(NOTE: Don't measure the outside face of your old vent cover because the face is a different size than the vent hole) STEP 3: Open Blades to Reveal PreDrilled Holes on Sides of Vent Cover Third, You will open the blades with a flat screwdriver or plastic putty knife to find the PreDrilled holes on the sides of your New Modern AC Vent Cover - These PreDrilled holes are how you will secure your new Vent to your old Plenum Box or 2x4 piece of wood. STEP 4: Drill Screws Through the Vent Cover's Side Using a 6" Drill Extension into the PreDrilled Holes Fourth, Using a 6" Extension on your drill you can use the 2" screws provided to secure your New Modern AC Vent Cover to your current Plenum Box or 2x4. Now you can close the blades using a flat screwdriver or plastic putty knife.
