Question

Is there a good way to grow rhubarb here in the South? I’ve seen it for sale and purchased it but it never comes up.

  1. Rhubarb is a very tricky plant to grow in your area due to your summer heat and mild winters. But I always say that where there is a will, there is a way. Forget the traditional garden advice of growing rhubarb in your sunniest area. Gardeners in Atlanta will have better luck with rhubarb by planting roots in partial shade, with a sunny morning exposure and afternoon shade. Some gardeners are even having success in hot summer areas by growing rhubarb as an annual. I found some great advice and growing tips for southern gardeners at this link:

    Good luck!
