  1. The best time to reseed a lawn in your area depends on the type of turf you have. For cool-season grasses--such as fescues, Kentucky bluegrass or ryegrasses--you want to seed when the air temperatures are cooler but soil temperatures are still warm, which is late summer or fall between September to mid-October. If your lawn is composed of bermuda, St. Augustine, zoysia or any other warm-season grass, then the best time to reseed is typically May and June.
