I’d like to grow pole green beans this year and I’m looking for a no-fuss, very flavorful variety. What recommendations do you have?

  1. Pole beans are great to have in the garden, partly because they continuously produce beans over a long season. As such, continual harvesting when beans are ready to pick will increase your overall yields. Kentucky Blue is a winner with sweet and tender pods from 6 to 8 inches long. For an early-maturing Roma-type pole bean, try Northeaster--the flat green pods are stringless and tender with a rich, sweet flavor. Fortex is an early and very productive, stringless variety producing extra slender, firm-textured pods. Enjoy the harvest!
