I just planted a Lavender Lady Lilac this year and live in Zone 20 So. Calif. I know Lilacs prefer colder climates. Any suggestions for making mine any happier in my location? Thanks for your help!

  1. You're in luck as Lavender Lady is one of the many varieties suited for your growing zone. Lavender Lady is a low chill variety and does well in Zones 22 and below. Other low chill varieties include Blue Skies, Blue Boy, Dark Night, and California Rose. Give it well-drained, neutral to slightly alkaline soil, full sun to light shade, and regular irrigation. Mulching in summer and again in early winter will moderate soil temperatures. Oh what butterflies this beauty will attract. Enjoy!
