I have two small children that love to help cook. What are some good fast growing Indoor herbs?
- Oakland, OR
What a wonderful gift to give your children by cooking with them in the kitchen! As for fast-growing herbs, basil, cilantro and dill can be started from seed and put on growth rather fast, though established plants will excel in growth as opposed to herbs started from seeds. Parsley, mint and chives are also great choices if you buy plants. English mint is a well-behaved variety worth considering. And fernleaf dill is a dwarf variety that only grows to 18 inches in height, making it a wonderful fit for growing in a container. Keep in mind that you'll need a large sunny window that gets light for at least four hours a day; basil is best with five or more. If you have grow lights or fluorescent lights above, so much the better. Have fun!
