I have some “screened dirt” that I want to fertilize and get it to prime for planting for my beds / planters. What do you suggest I do to it to get it so my plantings stay healthy.

Your "screened dirt" is in desperate need of organic matter. You could add shredded leaves or grass clippings, but I prefer compost or aged manure as it also adds nutrients that plants need. I would also add perlite, which is volcanic glass with a high percentage of silica. The product improves soil aeration and drainage and holds moisture without becoming soggy. I would mix about 50 percent dirt with 30 percent compost and 20 percent perlite. Good luck!
