Treat Your Party Guests to a Mediterranean Appetizer Platter

If you’re looking for an appetizer to serve party guests that’s low in fat and easy to prepare, treat them to a Mediterranean Mezze Platter. The good news is this appetizer requires little preparation and most, if not all, of the ingredients can be bought at your local grocery store.

Pick out an attractive platter to display your Mediterranean fare on. Then visit your local supermarket to buy containers of hummus in a variety of flavors. Look for flavorful options like red pepper hummus, spinach hummus and garlic hummus. If you have time, you can also make your own using a food processor or blender.

Spoon the hummus into serving dishes and arrange them attractively on the tray. Place a drizzle of olive oil on top. Arrange slices of fresh pita bread, black olives, green olives and sliced vegetables on the tray for dipping.

Other items you can place on the tray are stuffed grape leaves and marinated artichoke hearts, available at most supermarkets. If you don’t mind spending a little more time in the kitchen, slices of grilled eggplant add a great Mediterranean touch.
