  • Best cleaning solution for laminate flooring?

  • We are in the process of installing laminate flooring in our home. I would like to use a non-toxic, natural cleaning solution to clean the flooring. Any suggestions? What’s the best way to naturally clean laminate flooring?

  • I think the best thing to use on laminate floors is just water! But you want to use it with a microfiber mop like this one: http://www.kmart.com/libman-microfiber-floor-mop/p-029V009729111000P?prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2

The trick is to vacuum the floor with a soft floor brush so you get all the big dirt and dust off the floors. Then use the microfiber mop DRY! Fill a spray bottle with just water and spritz it on the floor. Use the microfiber mop to go over the water and it will leave your floors looking like glass. You can’t get any more natural than that!

Awesome! I love this idea as well because it is so cost effective. Thanks so much!

I mostly use 1/4 cup of vinegar and put it in a 30 to 32 ounce empty spray bottle filled with plain water. I purchased a terry mop cover that has elastic all around it from Home Depot, which I dampen with water and place on a Swiffer dry mop head. I then spray the floor (a small area at a time) with the vinegar/water solution and then wipe it up with the damp terry mop. It does a good job. There is no streaking, and you are using very little water on the floor. One company has come out with wet cloths to attach to Swiffer mops that contain vinegar and water, which I also plan to purchase and try. Recently I came across mylaminateflooring company which is providing the best methods for this and maintanence.

I like the idea of using vinegar too! I use vinegar for a lot of my cleaning, so this would be an easy additional to my routine. Thanks for sharing!
