Susan Mallery’s Gift to Librarians

by Susan Mallery

This is a guest blog by NYT bestselling author Susan Mallery supporting her July release “Summer Nights” (part of the fan favorite and bestselling) Fool’s Gold miniseries, now available in-store at Kmart. New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery has entertained millions of readers with her witty and emotional stories about women and the relationships that move them.

Annabelle Weiss of SUMMER NIGHTS is my gift to the librarians who have been such fervent supporters of my books. Too often, librarians are portrayed as ultra-conservative, buttoned-down types with no sense of whimsy. The librarians I’ve met are some of the rocking-est women I’ve ever met. They’re informed, enthusiastic, and their sense of style runs the gamut from quirky to couture. Cardigans are in the mix, sure, but it’s not the official uniform.

When horse trainer Shane Stryker first spots Annabelle, she’s dancing on top of a bar. Way too wild for me, he thinks, but what he doesn’t know is that she’s demonstrating an ancient ceremonial dance of the Máa-Zib tribe. So yeah, she’s dancing on a bar, but she’s doing it for educational purposes.

All Shane knows is that he has sworn off wild women, and pint-sized Annabelle seems about as wild as they come. Librarian or no, the sexy redhead gets him so rattled that he can’t even remember his own name.

Any librarian who would like a stack of Fool’s Gold bookmarks to share with their patrons may send their mailing address to Jenel at SusanMallery. com. Non-librarian readers can visit the Freebies page inside the Members Only area at to find out how to send in for a free bookmark, too.

Horse whisperer Shane Stryker is done with passion. This time around, he’s determined to meet someone who will be content with the quiet life of a rancher’s wife. And the fiery, pint-size redhead who dazzles him at the local bar definitely does not fit the bill.

Small-town librarian Annabelle Weiss has always seen herself as more of a sweetheart than a siren, so she can’t understand why Shane keeps pushing her away. Shane has formed the totally wrong impression of her but only he can help her with a special event for the next Fool’s Gold festival. And maybe while he’s at it, she can convince him to teach her a few things about kissing on hot summer nights, too—some lessons, a girl shouldn’t learn from reading a book!
