I purchased this product about a year ago, I needed to replaced the fliter in my vacuum. I have used that same filter many many times. When the instructions say you can use it over again it is so very true, it also tells you things you need to do so that you may use the fliter over, simply follow the directions and you'll be in business. I'm always grateful when i find products that are worth buying. I will always advise friends to look for this product and purchase it.
I had to buy this replacement dust cup HEPA paper replacement filter out of necessity. I own the Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner that utilizes this tall multi-faced accordian style cartridge filter, and they say that it is HEPA material. So, after many uses, my filter would no longer shake or brush clean, and it had a gray, dirty appearance, which worried me of the collection of germs that might be embedded in the filter. So I attempted to soak the filter. We have ceramic HEPA certified filters at my place of employment, and a thorough rinsing of the filter is all that is needed.
Not true with the F1. This seems to me to just be a simple pleated PAPER filter and not HEPA material. My filter curled, sagged, and lost it's shape after soaking, and it got NO cleaner in the washing of it ! When it dried, it was pretty unusable, so I had to throw it away. The store carried the replacement, so I got one. It is rather costly. It is my opinion that these fibers are not HEPA - just filter paper which has been formed and pleated. To save the expense of continually purshasing new F1's, I would recommend an occasional rinsing with bleach water, but don't soak. Just rinse and brush it off. I would rather have a bagged vac, because of the pollen and pollutants that stay in those filters.
I've been wanting to write this review for quite a while. And as a reminder, Royal does not recommend washing nor rinsing this filter. Probably because it is only paper, LOL !

This is a good product. Must replace after some amount of time. Otherwise your house will stink.

I am allergic to dust and when vacuuming with this filter I still get the sniffles and my eyes get itchy which means dust is still being pumped into the air. Fine as the particles may be I would hope a filter would do a better job at collecting those particles and cleaning them out of my carpet instead of shooting them (minimally) into the air of my home. It may be my vacuum but as the go-between filament of my carpet and air, the filter should trap those nasty dust particles.
