Dolls are a great toy for every girl and boy
When it comes to childhood toys, perhaps nothing has as much universal appeal as dolls. Little children learn about the social constructs of the world through pretend play with dolls, dress up toys and stuffed animals. This pretend play is the perfect way for children to learn language, social skills and more, making these toys the perfect addition to any nursery or playroom. Dolls are simple toys that offer the ability for children to practice getting dressed with dress up clothes and acting out real-life situations with multiple dolls or action figures, making them an easy educational toy.
From the time children are babies, they develop attachments to toys that represent people and creatures in the real world. You may notice a one-year old who can't let go of his favorite stuffed moose, or a two-year old girl who believes her stuffed doll has come to life. Dolls for babies usually feature bright colors and lots of contrast to attract the baby's attention. Some will feature teething rings, rattles, crinkle paper and bells in order to provide a full sensory experience. As your baby gets older, he or she may prefer a stuffed doll or animal with soft or textured fabric. These early dolls make great snuggle friends at night and companions during the day time.
Young children love baby dolls, rag dolls and other dolls that more accurately represent real people and babies. They even come separated as toys by gender so that boys can play military dress up with action figures and girls can practice caring for a baby or younger sibling. Little girls typically love rocking a baby doll right alongside mom. Young boys will explore the outdoors and build Lego towers with soft action figures. As they get older, these children will transition to Barbies and plastic action figures. They can play dress-up and pretend with these little dolls, repeating conversations and situations they see in their everyday lives. Many dolls also come with loads of accessories so that they can do everything your son or daughter does. They can ride in a stroller, take trips in the car, play with pets, eat dinner at a table and so much more. Many dolls offer matching dollhouses, hideouts and forts for hours of fun play.
While fashion dolls, action figures and pretend play dolls are great for the younger crowd, there are still plenty of dolls on the market for older kids as well. Some of these dolls are career dolls that help your children learn about the world around them. For example, an anatomy doll shows exposed organs and may even pull apart like a puzzle so that your kids can understand the inner workings of the human body. This is great for a budding biologist or future doctor. Realistic baby dolls help teenagers learn about the responsibilities and demands of parenthood. And emotion dolls, usually used with the toddler crowd, can help teenagers work through the confusing array of emotions they feel during puberty.
