    Well worth purchasing able to loose the inches and the pounds. September 17, 2009

    I purchased this after working out on my Welso exercise bike and it was well worth the purchase. I was able to burn 3x the amount of calories in half the time. It is effortless but very effective. I would recommend this to someone who has made up their mind that they are ready to get in shape but not interested in joining a gym. Since it is just as good as the equipment at your local gym and very easy to assemble.

    not worth the money December 28, 2008

    I got this for a gift and had to put it together by hand. They give you a bag of grease to use yourself, that was a mess. The resistance knob already fell off when I turned it a few times plus I do not even think it worked! I could not tell any difference. There are No programs and this thing should cost 50 bucks because it is not worth the money or the effort of putting it together! Use your money on something better, please! If I had not taken it out of the box and put it together I would be dragging it back and getting something else worth the money.

    the elliptical is really a great machine to get a really great work out it works your arms and legs and well help you stay fit and it well even help you lose weight if you are trying to stay fit or healthy its been nice i've had my sister and my best friend start working out with me three times a week for about one hour a day

    The Weslo CT 3.8 elliptical is a compact and simple to use. This was a second CT 3.8 unit that I purchased as a gift. I have had my original CT 3.8 for about a year now.

    The box of parts is heavy (44 pounds) so you might need someone to help carry it. The unit took me about 2 hours to assemble. The instructions are simple and straightforward. A second person to help with assembly is recommended, but is not necessary. A ratchet wrench set is more useful than the recommended adjustable wrench. You also need a small Phillips screwdriver (not listed) to open the battery compartment. Four AA cells are required but not included.

    I was not looking for programmed control of the resistance, so this unit?s manual adjustment knob works great for me. The simple electronic readout shows a number of different displays. I typically use the total calories burned reading along with the speed bar graph to maintain pace.

    I especially like the compact size. You need a minimum 25 x 47 inch space to provide room for movement of all the moving parts. The recommendation that you need 3 feet of space around the unit is not necessary. I have only one foot on the right and 3 inches in the rear. You really only need space on one side so that you can get on and off. A floor mat is recommended (I assume to catch sweat drips or donut crumbs) but I do not use one.

    This unit is not massive (one of its virtues) so it might not work as well for a large person (I weigh 170 lbs), or someone who wobbles a lot, or likes to pound equipment at high speed.

    The only complaint that I have (and others have noted) is that the unit develops a ?creaking? or ?flexing? sound after a few weeks of constant use. It seems to be related to the way the plastic case/cover is designed and attached. I have tried to tighten all of the bolts. This initially helps, but does not solve the problem. Hence, the noisy rating. But I have learned to ignore it and just turn the TV up a notch.

    A good unit for the money.

    I purchase this machine about two years ago. I am so glad that I purchased it. It has helped me to lose and maintain my weight. I get a very good workout every day for 30 minutes each day. This was a smart investment.
