This bike was a birthday present this year and after roughly a week's usage I have to say that I absolutely love it! I can't say it will hold up, but Schwinn's are a good brand so I'm sure with regular maintenance you'll have a friend for a long time with this one!
It is technically a "girls" bicycle, but it is an authentic (but not vintage) reproduction of an vintage Schwinn. I have met several women who in their youth had the same bicycle of the same color, just without flowers and and other decals on it. And while it is still technically a "girls" bicycle, I do ride it comfortably as a woman of short stature. When originally deciding on a bicycle, I was torn between a 26" wheeled cruiser (the Schwinn Riverside, also at Kmart: http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_080W379601110001P?prdNo=9&blockNo=9&blockType=G9) and this one, with about $30 difference. As a woman who is 5'2" on her good days, I decided that the 26" cruiser was simply far too much bike to handle as a petite woman. Loved this 24" cruiser and thought it was much more manageable, and regardless of that marginal price difference (in my favor, at least) I decided on the smaller, "child" sized bicycle. Glad I did, because it has been a wonderful addition to my home and has me gotten rather mobile and is a great 'green' alternative to driving to the corner market. And instead of it taking forever even via walking, I get there in decent time. And, everywhere I go I get compliments from both the younger crowd on my awesome "vintage' bicycle, and several "can I check it out/try it" from an older set who remembers when their bicycles looked like this one. Some so nostalgic that they get a bit misty eyed. I'm glad to bring them a bit of their past and have been enjoying cruising around the town in this thing!
There are a few downsides, however... the price is nearly $100 cheaper in store for this model. Try to find it locally before purchasing it online! And if you want gears and hand brakes, this is not the model for you! I have a hard time using hand brakes due to neurological issues in my hands, so pedal breaks and a single speed is PERFECT for me! This is a personal preference, however. :)

I was cruising along putting together but had issues with pedals. One was easy but the other would not to screw into the threads. I finally was able to make it work but I was a few minutes from returning the bike.
