    Utility Meets Comfort! January 20, 2011

    Kmart's Jaclyn Smith 300 thread count sheet sets combine the durability of percale with the comfort of sateen sheets. The color pallette is different, and I was happy to see the cloud color--reminiscent of a former spokesperson's signature blue color. Many people get caught up on thread count, and opt for sheets that are 500 thread count or more. But in today's marketplace, thread counts are skewed by manufacturers that double or triple loop fibers and cut them to bolster the thread count they can list on the packaging. These sheets make mention of LONG FIBERS. This is very important. The softness of sheets today is more determined by the quality and processing of the cotton or synthetic fibers, and less by thread count numbers. What I LOVE about these sheets is: They fit my deep mattress. They are generous on the fabric--more than any other sheet I've owned. So, I can easily tuck in the sides with plenty of fabric to spare! Why Kmart insists on renewing Jaclyn Smith's status as a spokesperson is beyond me, since the woman has done NOTHING in YEARS, if not DECADES. Not that I have anything against her, but why is she an authority on anything? Couldn' Kmart find a stronger personality? Even Niecy Nash carries more currency in the domestic arena.

    These sheets feel very scratchy. I cannot sleep on them. I washed them 3 times, but they still feel abrasive. They look nice and fit well; however, they feel terrible and I can't use them. Buying these sheets was like throwing $40 into the trash can.

    Very disappointed in the softness. They are slightly scratchy. They are, however generously sized and fit well on my thick mattress. For the price, they should have been better quality. I would not buy these sheets again.

    Bought these beautiful brown sheets on sale for my daughter's bed. They are of good quality and wash up great. I would recommend them.
