    Styrofoam sheds where you kid can eat it October 07, 2011

    Pros:
    easy to buckle,easy to clean

    looses styrofoam,uncomfortable for child,no protection from sun,padding in seat condenses over time,takes up a lot of car space,cheaply made,needs to be recalled,kid can eat the styrofoam that sheds,hot in the summertime

    This car seat seemed to work well when we first got it.  But then we noticed that when the windows were rolled down in our car, that pieces of styrofoam from the car seat's padding, was floating all over our car.  Then larger pieces started falling off and into the seat where I son could have eaten them.  These pieces were about a half dollar in size!  We took pictures and called Evenflo.  They sent us out another foam insert.

    We took the old insert off and put the new one on, gently, very gently.  But we could tell the new styrofoam was just as cheaply made as the old one.  Sure enough.  Now we have small field pea size pieces falling off into my son's car seat.  It comes from where the styrofoam meets the harness holes in the plastic/upholstery.  But the styrofoam does not come off where the harness comes through it.  The styrofoam comes off from the holes below the harness!

    We called again.  They are sending out another styrofoam pad for us to replace.   We have yet to receive it.  You would think that you would get a replacement expressly delivered so that a child doesn't ingest toxic styrofoam.  But no, it's been over a week and no replacement.  I am tired of replacing pads and worrying if my son is eating styrofoam everytime we put him in the car seat.  This car seat needs to be recalled!  Cheaply made!

    Now, my son hates riding in the car seat and screams and cries and goes as stiff as a board when you try to put him in it.   The car seat, also takes up a lot of car space.  My husband can not put the driver's seat back as far as he'd like because the seat is so huge.   We are going to get a new one from a different brand.  Oh, my upholstery is a different color, but the same exact car seat.  We have had it for over 4 months.

    My son is 8 months old, he is slightly bigger than most 8 month olds.  This car seat states that he should be "forward facing" when our state law says at 1 yr old they can be forward facing.  The harness has to be put in a forward facing slot, not rear facing for him, and the bottom part of the harness is 3 in. up on his thighs.  I DO NOT recommend this car seat at all.
