Batteries that come with it die fast.,lens cap too easily removed,Sucks the life out of batteries.I've had my camera for two years and I find it very awesome and Dureable if it's able to with stand a 13 year old girl who is very clumsy then it can withstand any one :) Takes amazing photos and no one should be disappointed with this product.

Batteries that come with it die fast.I absolutely love this camera. I watched and watched this camera and when it finally went on sale I put it on layaway using the online layaway service. It was so easy and convenient to do and the best part was I only went to the store once and that was to pick up my camera. It is easy to use and comes with simple instructions. I've used it to video record my girls first father-daughter dance and took pictures that look professional. Only con I have is that the batteries that came with it died fast. This is a great buy!

I wanted to learn more about photography without breaking the bank since this is an experiment for me I would have hated to invest a ton of money in a camera just to find that the hobby was not for me. I looked at "inexpensive" DSLRs with kit lenses and well as various bridge cameras and even some P&S Canons what I could use the CHDK with to extend the functionality. Ultimately I decided that I wanted a bridge camera because I wanted more control and zoom over what most P&Ss offer but I didn't want to invest a ton of money in lens with a DSLR. I was intialy interested in the Fuji Finepix S2550 but after discovering that it didn't have a real aperture and since part of this was to learn more about digital photography I decided against that line. I ultimately decided on the GE X5 for several reasons.

No manual focusingI duplicated a shot posted online that was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV using a 500mm lens. My photo taken with the GE X5-BK had superior resolution and was a far better picture.
A pleasant surprise for me.
I measure 6.3 actual digital zoom. The only feature I would like to have added is manual focusing. The camera's various features work very well. For the price there is no better camera. Easy to use is a plus for anyone who purchases this camera. An advanced user will love the many manual features that are available and after experimenting with all the features will find this camera will take great pictures for 97% of all the photos you would like to take. Uses inexpensive, readily available, NiMH rechargeable AA or standard alkaline AA batteries.
