You will LOVE this tv! March 06, 2010
Pros:
Great deal,Looks Great,SERIOUSLY AMAZING PICTURE,Sounds Great,Viera LinkCons:
Pretty HeavyI am a hardcore researcher. i looked EVERYWERE for a tv around this pricing and i will say. even though i got this tv on sale it is still worth what they are asking for it! at your local stores. sometimes they have a sale they wont post on the internet. i found this tv on sale in store. but noticed it was higher online! so head on down and see about snaging one of these up because a new 2010 model is arriving shortly.
ok now about the tv! the 720p does not matter!! due to the fact that your going to be able to hook up something 1080p and the tv or even a ps3 will detect the 1080p setting for you. which this tv supports!! i think the main reason they tell you its a 720p is games and hd chanels are in 720p. not 1080p! the only time i believe 1080p will matter is if your running a blue ray movie. as they are 1080p. which when i used my ps3 it asks me if i want to use 1080p. i know my tv supports that otherwise it wouldnt display! so just make sure your running a 1080p blue ray player and you should be fine.i also believe hd is not broadcast in 1080p. and if they did the imperfections would come out more !
now as for me im an artist. i notice things that would normally not bug other people. for instance. i see other lcd tv images and the colors tend to come out and make images into large squares at times. in random parts of the movie. also edges are real smooth and round not steps. also ive compared a dvd to a blue ray of the same movie there isnt that much of a difference. as long as your useing a blueray player or 1080p upscaling dvd player. that is why i love my ps3!! it upscales all my reg dvds. also love the fact plasmas are 600hz which makes action parts of movies or sports or games run smother.because lcds are only 60hz or even 120hz. thats another advantage this plasma has over lcd. another thing is that for 42 inch lcds you will pay more!! you can get 32s for sometimes alot less but i feel this is a better tv if you can swing a bigger price tag. but there not as good in my opinion.
sound is great! the tv does have a burn in picture protection by using a screen saver. plasmas are know to get darker over time cause it takes more energy to light up later on after years but you can just adjust the setting and it take years for this to happen. the tv has preset color setting that can get real bright. so i will just use those settings later on if my tv darkens later.
drawback to plasma is they use glass so be mindful of bright lighting or were you may get glare on glass just like with older tvs. i got a tilt wall mount for this purpose to help with glare. i dont notice glare . i also like that plasmas can be viewed from sides better then lcds. i also recommend getting the 100 dollar flat or tilt wall mount that can use spacers to use between tv and mount as i found the distance from wall to tv and power cord to be an issue as well as hooking up tv cables. i used spacers to set tv out from wall. they came with my wall mount i dont think the cheaper stands do. i also just got a flat mount that just happens to have brackets to tilt tv just a little forward but it stays stationary at 5 degrees. cant move it like other full tilt mounts. but thats ok! also i am not running hd tv so no hdmi. im just using the normal cable from my cable box. or i have used rca wires and the picture still looks great. however you will want to buy hdmi cable for playsation3 or blue ray players! just looks better. and sound runs through same cable.
so im part this tv has beautiful picture should last longer then lcd. if you like games or sports or action movies you will be happy with this great tv!

I absolutely love this TV. January 26, 2010
Pros:
Looks Great,Sounds Great,Great deal,Viera Link,No Burn in,SERIOUSLY AMAZING PICTURECons:
Would've loved a matte finish,Pretty Heavy,Lack of analog out - extra HDMI,NO PIPThis has to be the best looking 42 in. TV I've ever seen. Sure, There's a 1080p version of the same tv for $100 more, but I'll tell you right now there's a reason you'll never see the two side by side in a store playing the same bluray. It's because you couldn't tell the difference. Stick it next to a 120hz tv or heck, even a 240hz and you'll love how the color pops. I'm writing this review about 3 months into having it. During this time I've had all color settings below 49% to ensure best display life. I just turned them up, because I couldn't wait any longer. It looks CRAZY good.
I only have two major gripes with this tv. One: there's no Picture-In-Picture. Sure it isn't a must have but it would really be handy if you like to keep up with sports. Two: Only two HDMI and no RCA analog out. While missing these two plugs doesn't bother me at the moment, I can deffinitely see it being a problem sometime.
The price was WAY cheaper when I bought it. It was around christmas. But I'd have to say it's worth what they're asking now.
Oh I almost forgot, the sound is really good for a flat panel. Way better than my Sony Bravia 50''.
