    Pros:
    Safe, easy, clean, unique,Cutter never touches food,Cut lid can be replaced on can,Simple, rugged
    Cons:
    Not for sqeezing juice from tuna

    I thought I knew what a can opener was, until I came across this unique device. It belongs in a class by itself! It opens a can in an entirely new way, by cutting into the side of the hollow bead at the top of the can. No sharp edges are exposed to fingers at any time, and the lid can be replaced after opening. (It needs help to stay on securely, however, using a heavy rubber band(s) or tape.)

    There's only one downside to this design: if you like to squeeze the juice from an opened can of tuna, for example, by pushing the lid into the can, you'll find that the lid won't fit inside the can! This is the only reason I still keep my old-style opener.

    The core mechanism is patented and licensed to various manufacturers, and built into plain and fancy models that sell elsewhere for $27 or more. ******'s is simple and priced right. In a perfect world (unless you're a tuna-squeezer), every can opener would be made like this.
