Good Starter Set
This is a great set to start a box with... almost every socket and wrench you would ever need... I just wish it came with more pliers but like most craftsman tools i've bought i've never had a problem with it would recommend this kit to any mechanic just starting a new box

Disappointed. Worst-in-class packaging
I just bought the 540 piece professional mechanic's tool set. I rarely provide feedback on products but this experience was so extreme that I felt that I couldn't let it go. I did my research on this product and there are many similar comments/reviews on the internet. Many people said that the packaging was poorly designed and that tools are often missing and the overwhelming majority of folks suggested that one catalog and itemize the tools when unpackaging.
So, I opened my 540 piece tool set and it was in fact a complete yardsale!!!! At first, I thought I might have received a damaged product but the box was absolutely pristine...then, as I inspected further, I realized that is was designed this way (or not designed in any way!!!). As I started the tedious process of cataloging the 540 piece set, I then discovered that there is no rhyme or reason or method to how the products were bundled in the sealed bags. Do you have any idea how difficult that makes the cataloging process!!!!! I am a product design Engineer so this is particularly frustrating. I suggest that you have one of your Sears executives buy one of these sets and see what they get. You can't be proud of this work....Absolutely WORST IN CLASS!!!! Also, I do have 2 of some sizes and missing wrenches as well...just like the reviews said. I haven't got to the sockets yet. I went back to Sears to get some socket organizers before I start this tedious process...I complained to the folks in the Hardware Department and they said that they have NEVER opened a tool set or sold a tool set that has more than 200 tools where there hasn't been something missing....they also said they dread opening one for display purposes because it is a yard sale and an all day project!!!!! I am just dumbfounded by this experience...WOW...what happened to you guys? Craftsmen tools is your BRAND...your reputation!!! And by the way, some of the smaller wrenches were bowed/bent. No small wonder why Sears is struggling.

Really disappointed
I used to buy cheap ************* tools but they break and come with very few in the box. I decided to upgrade and shall out there 1200bucks for this kit. I told the sales guy that I was tired of sets that skipsizes and are not complete, he assured me this kit is not like that. Which is not true at all. While you get a lot more in this kit you also miss and skip alot more sizes. But first ill start from the beginning.1 Opening the box, this has got to be the worse packaged item out there and I'm not exaggerating one bit. They may have will just thrown all the tools in the box. There is a few dozen bags of tools, I no particular order, rhyme or reason. You'll have seven 12pt sockets and one 6 pt in a bag. So unpacking will be an all day affair and you better have organizers becuase this set doesn't help you there. 2 MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR TOOLS! The sales guy even said that. I am 2 hours in and about two thirds done and already I have duplicate or missing tools.I feel I got ripped off

I have been wanting a good tool set to replace my hodge podge collection of cheap, mix and match tools. Decided to stop in my local Sears, just to look. This set was on sale for 30% off. Too good of a deal to pass up, so I bit the bullet and got it. Also, picked up a nice top and middle box, and bottom chest, also 30% off. I am not a professional mechanic, just a weekend warrior who happens to have a street & strip car. This set appears to have almost everything I need. I don't use air tools, already have two Craftsman torque wrenches and an inexpensive tap & die set. I did purchase some additional pliers and vice grips. I inventoried everything and nothing was missing, nor were there any duplicates. I was pleasantly surprised. I have never owned Snap-On, Mac, Matco, or any other professional grade tools, so I can't say these are or are not as good as those. However, I can say that for someone like me, this is a great tool set.
I would recommend this product to a friend.

you will be crazy amazed at how much stuff this has. i am a student for diesel mechanics and this is a really bad *** set of tools. there hasn't been one thing i came across that i cant fix with ease cuz of these tools. i had a little backyard set that i never had no probs with until i had to use it every day. this set is really worth every penny

Very good tool set had a great price at the time of need. The needle nose plired are not verry durable mine broke on the first use. Other than that all is good and I am well satisfied. Thanks for still making american made tools.
