Craftsman  Portable Sandblasting Kit

My wife purchased this for me for fathers day and usually she can't go wrong buying me craftsman but this was a flop. It had absolutely no instructions, I could not find any on sears.com. I have only used a sand blaster a few times in my life and they were always the cabinet kind, so it could have been my fault but I just could not get the thing to consistently work.

I purchased this portable sandblasting kit to replace an older modle that wore out after 25 plus years. This one does a better job than the older one did. I am very pleased with it's operation and portability. I live in Florida where sand is abundant. I simply scoop up a 5 gallon bucket of sand sift it into a 2nd bucket then stick the pick up tube into the bucket of sand and go to work. Very impressive little sand blaster.

This is my second gun after using the first on car parts and in blast cabinet. Very good unit that can be used in various applications. Only problem with this particular purchase was it was missing some parts; probably stolen in store or grabbed for another customer. Still will purchase again when necessary. Just make sure to check box that all parts are included before you get home.

This product initially didn't work at all for me. After some research I found that the ceramic insert tube inside the gun was inserted too far back covering the sand feed hole. Pushed it forward some and we are good to go. The compressor i'm using is way below recommended (3 scfm/6 gallon) but it gets the job done great, just takes a little longer waiting on the tank to refill but thats my fault not the tools.

I would reccomend you explore every option before you even copnsider wasting your time with this product. Don't waste your time thinking you can make it work or having this gun get you by. Just my humble opinion. I am working in the restoration of old cars and need reliable tools. This tool was at best disappointing. Good Luck Robert

Since Sears doesn't carry a replacement tip for my old reliable Campbell Hausfield, I bought a Craftsman sandblaster to replace it. It wouldn't draw sand but the ceramic tip fits perfectly in the C-H. If you want to keep your C-H going, you might consider ordering the Craftsman tip...that and the pickup hose are the only things on the sandblaster that work.

I bought this sandblasting kit and after two weeks didn't work anymore. Is better if you buy any sandblasting equipment more expensive and better quality.

Don't buy this gun..I ended up buying a mit gun from toolplanet.com that will outdo this gun in every aspect. When at the Sears store here..I know from prior experience..ANYTHING IBUY FROM SEARS..I HAVE THEM CALL ON THE SPOT TO THIER PARTS DEPARTMENT..to see avaialbility of parts and accessotries for what I am looking at...This gun for one thing, to get an extra tip..You pay 5.99 apiece for them , and then 7 to 10.00 for shipping..With the mit gun , I get 3 tips and an extra jet nozzle for 3.99...I asked the salesperson at sears why they even sell them and not stock the ceramic tips..they said they idn't have room too..Only about 12 empty pegs left on the display shelf with the air accessories right above the guns...also this gun requires so many cfm to operate..and sears only has one compressor in the store that will even operate this gun..Same as thier craftsman compressors..need a pop off valve? Well order it from thier parts department and end up paying double of what you can get elsewhere..I got a gmc chop saw from them as well..I needed a part..and even though Sears sells this saw..thier parts department dont even have it on thier inventory and cant get parts for it...All of Sears craftsman products, as well as most other items there you have to pay shipping charges on parts to repair them if they aren't under warranty...Bought something from Sears that you were not happy with? If you bought it with your credit card..then they charge I believe a 25% restocking fee..even if the item you bought was broken and you simply want a refund..You still pay..I am fed up with Sears and thier rip off policies..I have now taken everything still under warranty back to Sears and got A refund..thankfully I only had one item that was not paid in cash..They got A good rip off market going for them..I can tell you that..The cheap taiwan and china guns out perform this sears gun by far..and from tool planet..the accessories are readily available..and at a good price..I will never again be A "sears sucker" lol...People follow suit..unless you want to have all of these hassles like me,,,

didnt work at all...would not suck the blasting meadia and go figure I was useing a craftsman air compressor...starting to think that the only thing that craftsman is good for is hand tools...because I already had to fix the compressor twice...

Purchased this gun and like the other reviewer, I got about 3/4 way through a bag of sand and the ceramic nozzle was worn out. Went back to Sears expecting to purchase a pack of ten or so nozzles, but they did not carry replacements. The sales clerk said I would have to go another Sears that had a parts department or order them by phone or online. Tried ordering them online but the model # of the gun would not come up on there model# search. Still looking for extra nozzles. My recommendation is to purchase from a different manufacturer that has replacement parts.
