    Same shelves as 20 years ago... January 22, 2009

    These shelves are not difficult to assemble, do not take more than one person, and do not bend if assembled properly. The instructions are mostly diagrams because that is all it takes for the obvious steps required to assemble the shelves. The printed text also explains to not over tighten the bolts until fully assembled and then square up the shelves before tightening and adding the braces. It's the same procedure as assembling wood bookshelves, media cabinets, entertainment stands, etc. After assembly I loaded every shelf with motorcycle parts and the shelves are holding everything just fine. I was worried about declining quality because of the negative reviews but these are the same shelves as several sets purchased 20 years ago that are still being used in the garage and basement after all this time.

    Not A Good Investment December 01, 2007

    As usual I was looking at the price tag when I purchased this item. My fiance and I put it together this evening and it was horrible. The directions are nothing but a mess of unclear pictures. What's worse it the product itself. The metal bends and dents as you are trying to assemble it. The screws are soft and the threads strip easily. When we finally got the unit assembled it was crooked. The only way to stablize it is to secure it to the wall. Needless to say we are not going to use it. My suggestion is to go spend the extra $15 or $20 to get something with quality and durability. This item has neither. I can't imagine that one of its shelves would be able to hold my laundry detergent, let alone the 300 pounds it claims to hold.

    Cheap,Large,Price was right

    I bought these for my husband in Iraq. Their clinic was seriously lacking storage space. I didn't want to spend a fortune so I took a chance on these. They reported back that they were beyond fantastic. There were no parts missing and went together easily and provided plenty of storage space.

    These shelves are huge! I actually use them to store my old Barbies because those were the cheapest shelves I could find. I could fit more than twenty dolls still in their boxes on each shelf. I love them, they look great. My dad actually assembled this for me and we did it wrong the first time around so we had to dissemble it and start over. I am a nineteen y/o girl so I am ordering another one and know I know how to assemble it myself this time around. It took about two hours for it to be completed. Its a heavy, sturdy shelf. I can't believe people are actually complaining. Its an excellent value. Even if you make a mistake you can always unscrew the bolts and start over.

    Being broke - I bought these shelves and added wood shelves to make DVD storage. I admit - they aren't meant for super-heavy duty - hence the cost. I added cable brackets to keep DVD's from sliding out for a "industrial loft" look. Not difficult to put together, just need a phillips head and I used a plier to hold bolts. Great bargain for realistic expectations.
