    Good gate, hurts my wrists though! August 08, 2010

    I have this gate mounted at the bottom of my stairs. It is a must have for our family since I have a 1 year old. It took me a week or so to get the hang of locking this gate but it is really sturdy once you press down the handle to lock. It just hurts my wrists, but I can't do anything about that. It keeps my daughter safe!

    Not for Climbers March 17, 2009

    I brought this gate to put at the bottom of my stairs. This is a sturdy gate and very easy to mount to wall. Unfortunately, I have an 18 month old granddaughter who is able to use the holes to climb over and get up the stairs. This is not a very good gate if you have an adventurous climber. I had to go out and by one that has no holes.

    This gate is easy to use and put up but its not that durable when it comes to kids trying to jump over it, climb over it or push it over like older babies and kids do. If you plan on having more then one child I would recommend a metal gate not a plastic on

    I am on the go a lot and I love the Safety 1st Lift & Lock Security Gate! It works on every door I have ever tried. Keeps the kids I need in the room in and my friends dogs out! We use this gate a lot when we are traveling because it snaps into place and does not require any perminent attacments. This is not a gate I use for stairs because after using it for a while a toddler can push it down. It is also not a gate I use in an area where I need to go in and out all the time. I use it mostly for travel. My friend's daughter is a climber and was able to get over this gate at 3 years old so she bought a second on and attached it to the same door higher making it impossible for her daughter to climb out.

    I watch my neices daughter who is just about 2yrs. old, and she is a child who likes to climb and has no fear, this gate is great, the lock never has come undone, and it is durable and sturdy.
