    I recently bought Rubik's Revolution for a 7 year old. It is totally different from Rubik's Cube but alot of fun once you get the hang of it. It has volume control (thank goodness!) and a bunch of different ways to play.  The little one has been enjoying it though it took a few days of practicing till she got the hang of it. Reading the directions is helpful!
