    Perfect Restaurant Waffles, Excellent quality June 25, 2010

    We tried a pair of other similarly priced waffle makers out before settling on this particular model. The first brand we tried had poor construction quality -- the lid clip snapped while we unpacked it! The other device we tried made shallow waffles and didn't seem to cook all the way through. We had to let them sit for double the recommended time just to get something edible.

    The Oster flip allows us to make Belgian waffles just like the ones we've enjoyed at restaurants. These aren't like the tiny Kellogg waffles you buy at *******, these are deep large waffles that you can make a meal of. The flip allows the batter to settle evenly, flowing into the deep grooves to make perfect waffles every time. The construction is solid and the cook time is accurate. As a bonus, you can turn the flip sideways so the waffle maker requires less storage space!

    Flimsy, cheap, low quality, poor design, difficult to clean January 08, 2010

    I'm reading all these great comments on the internet and wondering why people are so willing to accept the junk that companies like Oster are now making.  I purchased one of these waffle irons and was so disappointed with it, I took it back.  It is flimsy, poorly designed and poorly made with the cheapest materials available. It was not what I expected.  The soft pad feet are positioned in the middle, instead of the four corners, so it wobbles as it sits on the counter.  The drip pan that sits underneath it is too small.  If any batter drips out, it drips on the edge of the drip pan and runs onto the counter.  So, the drip pan serves no purpose other than to poorly imitate the professional models.  If any batter runs out, it gets into the lip between the iron and the cheap chrome and is impossible to clean out.  Batter also gets into the hinge, which is positioned too close the the waffle iron surface.  The non-stick surface is horrible, as the waffles have to be pried off if you don't oil it before every batch.  You're only supposed to oil it once before you start.  As for the heat control,  there is a large range to choose from, but if you want your waffles cooked at all, you have to set it half to 3/4 of the way between medium and high - and that is just to get them cooked.  Why is there all the range below this?  Overall, I guess you get what you pay for, all though this product isn't worth any more than $15.99,  I got it on sale at Kmart for $29.99 marked down from $39.99.  The flip feature is worthless, it adds nothing other than getting us to think that we have this great restaurant style flip waffle maker.  My basic belgian waffle maker makes better waffles, and cleans up easier and was less expensive.  The point of the flip waffle maker is that you're supposed get great waffles, with no-sticking, and easy clean-up.  I just can't understand how all these people praise this thing so much.  It is a piece of junk, and I, unlike all these other people praising this thing, will not accept the lack of quality design and production that has permeated our society. You might say, "But it is only $35.00, what do you expect?"  I expect quality products from a supposed quality manufacturer and a quality store.  If you want a cheap waffle maker, this is for you!  You can probably get a better made model made by a Chinese company for cheaper.

    Put this Waffle Maker on lay away for me. My Daughter saw this Belgian Waffle Maker on the store shelf and fell in love with the style. She said it reminded her of the ones she used in hotels when she traveled to different countries with the military. So I gave it (one on layaway) to her family for Christmas. They love it and use it every weekend. With the waffle flip feature, It cooks light and fluffy with high quality results. No area is left undercooked or overcooked. I still want one and will be buying this unit for myself. The quality makes you feel like your on vacation.

    Pros:
    Practical

    It is a very easy waffle maker to use.  The waffles comes out very crispy and filling.  My daughters love making waffles with me. I love that the waffle comes out in 4 sections.  The instructions are easy to follow and it also includes receipes in order to create the belgian waffles.

    Also I love that it doesnt take much counter space and it is very easy to clean.  The drip plate that is included is great and there is actually no mess stress.
