hill of sorcery!

the hill of sorcery is one of the coolest places in the hobbit enjoying it in Lego form is wonderful. the figures to start off with are great. dont really know about the necromancer might of looked better as a totally black figure . or they could have built him in his floating dark blob mode. the azog is great really it would have been nice to give azog a hand that actually looks right. the hand could be four metal looking prongs curved to hold a weapon in the middle. i sure am glad i didn't spend a boat load of cash trying to get him when he was a comic con exclusive. i would have liked it more if this was 90 dollars and featured the dol guldur ambush then we could have gotten 4 sets different not 4 sets but only three displays because they attach. good radagast figure dont really know why hes there but an extra figure never hurt anyone. this is a pretty good set over all ( hit that like button if your exited for the battle of the five armies sets on oct 15 !)

Overall
It is undoubtedly...a trap!

What a great set! It's not often I can say that this set's price was just about right, but given the great, exclusive minifigures included with the Hill of Sorcery, I don't think the economy would have allowed for much better than $70 bucks. DOL GULDUR: The castle of the slowly growing Sauron may not look like much, but tons of tricks and traps lie inside. These include: a rotating wall to reveal the Necromancer, some swinging swords behind a spider web, a catapult, a cage hanging over the tower, iron gates, and an opening statue. Because of all these and the minifigures, fantastic playability ensues. The set goes great with the Mirkwood trees and the Dol Guldur Ambush, as well as Weathertop and the Warg Attack if you already have those. Excellent job, LEGO. MINIFIGURES: -Gandalf: Gandalf has been included in several other sets, of course, but to my knowledge, not exactly like this. He has gray hair and a cape both, and is armed with his staff and sword, which is less often seen. If you don't have him, good set to get him in. If you do, he's still just as important. -Radagast the Brown: I can honestly say I never expected LEGO to make him in a set, least of all in a set below $100, but here we are! Radagast has a smiling face and an angry face which slides under a beard/hat piece, decorated with appropriate colors and a little bit of bird 'stuff' on one side, which is very movie accurate. He is dressed in his brown wizard robes, and is armed with a staff topped with a blue stone (like the one he uses to save Sebastian the hedgehog in An Unexpected Journey). Awesome minifigure. -Azog the Defiler: Given that the pale Orc appeared as an exclusive figure at Comic Con, I didn't expect a set with him either, but once again, LEGO surprised me with this set. Azog has an evil grin on his scarred torso that slides over the initial upper body piece. His skin is tannish (could've been white, but it's all good), and his left hand is replaced by an exclusive claw piece. He is armed with his large club and goes great with any Hobbit set, but especially this one and the Warg Attack. Awesome figure; put together with Radagast, he makes the whole set worth it. P.S. Just in case you weren't planning this, I would love to see Bolg in a Hobbit 3 set :) -Gundabad Orcs: We've all seen these before. The two in this set have Uruk swords and a mace, and have no hair. Along with the two from the Ambush plus any other's you may have, you've got a great army of evil. -The Necromancer: This ghostly figure is not what he seems. He is black with greenish printing on his face and torso to make him look like a ghoulish apparition, and I believe is based off the scene in An Unexpected Journey when Radagast has a close encounter with him. He goes great with the Ringwraiths from Weathertop, as well as any other Nazgul or Sauron related figure that may appear in future sets? Awesome, rare villain that is sure to keep Gandalf on his toes! OVERALL: What a set! Next to the Lone Ranger train chase, I'd say it's the best set $70 or over that I've gotten in a long time. I would recommend this to any LEGO Hobbit fan. Sorry, side note: LEGO, I have to ask again why a lot of my reviews have not been appearing after the designated two weeks. And I'm talking about reviews I made a month ago. These include the Malibu Mansion, Ghostbusters, the Rancor Pit, and the General Grievous Wheelbike. I'd sure appreciate seeing them or receiving an alert as to why they aren't there so I can rewrite them if necessary. Thanks!

Overall
AWESOME SET

This is one of my fav. sets because it has so much detail and a lot of cool minifigs. The building comes in three sections with two staircases. The Radagast figure comes with a really cool hat and feather and the Gandalf the gray figure comes with a cape a none-attached beard and hair. The necromancer is black with only part of his head and chest being green-blueish. The Azog figure has a twistable hook and a big club. The orcs come with printed thorns and the leader comes with a shoulder pad with thorns. The Building also has a cool function that allows the person to drop skulls on passing figures. The last thing is that the cage can be moved onto the tower or on the ground.

Accurate and fun.

The set and minifigures are accurate to the film. This set warrants hours of play time. It would be easy to combine it with another idential set to enlarge the model.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

A Great Set for Hobbit Fans!

I loved this set! The castle allows for great play features. If you flip the wall the Necromancer pops out, portraying a crucial part of the movie. Azog and Radagast are amazing, and you can only get them in this set. Pros- Exclusive Radagast and Necromanser figures. Catapult Spider web Huge sword trap Can be combined with 79011 Dol Guldar Ambush There are no cons, but I wouldn't recommend this for someone that is under 8, unless helped by an adult. Great Set Lego!

Overall
Lots of play features

Although this not be my favorite set in the new Hobbit wave (Lake Town gets my vote), this should be popular with kids. This is the set to get if you want Azog. He is menacing and a bit larger than other minifigures. Radagast is another exclusive figure to this set. He has some nice details like the feather in his cap and his printing. Gandalf is the same as the other versions with hair that have come out. There are two Gundabad orcs, which are decent bad guys. I do however prefer the two from the smaller Dol Guldur Ambush set due to the hair and weapons selection. Then you have the Necromancer. I do not complain often, but am disappointed with the way the minifigure was done. It just seems incomplete and is lacking the menacing quality he should have. The build is interesting. Although dark grey is the dominant color, there is not too much repetition in the build. The kids will really enjoy the play features such as a hidden sword attack, a hidden ring to discover, a cage which can be released, a catapult, and a turning feature revealing the Necromancer. The play features combined with the minifigures should keep the kids busy. The smaller Dol Guldur Ambush set can attach to this one and expand the play possibilities. This will also give you more orcs to add give it a more battle atmosphere. Even if the prospective buyer does not know the Hobbit storyline, this set should appeal to castle fans. You have a large ruin of a fortress, two wizards, and some interesting badguys. Overall, not a bad set, although I tend to favor Lake Town and the Mirkwood Elf Army.

Great set, even better minifigs

Great set to build, I'd say it was an easy to average build. Lots of little extras that you don't really notice at first glance when looking at the box. I loved the detail put into Azog and Radagast. They were definitly the highlight of the set for me. Pros - Minifigures - Radagast, Azog and the Necromancer - Reasonable price - Can be attached to 'Dol Guldur ambush' - Plenty of playability for young children Cons - To many stickers - would rather they be printed. - Might be a bit harder to build for children Overall I definitely think this set is worth getting even though its not the most iconic build from the movie but if you're a hobbit or LOTR fan its definitly worth getting. Cheers
