Beorn

Back with another review. Beorn is great, we are not getting his bear form in an upcoming set. gundubad orcs are cool because of the hair pieces. The set has swinging axes and hammers. there is a flick missile and it connects to Db battle but it breaks when you detach them so now onto the final verdict. Overall I give this set a A-

Cool Set

This set is great! The figures are very detailed, and the best one for me is Beorn. He's a brilliant figure that you need if you're a hard-core Hobbit fan. The set has some good features. The swinging axes are cool to play with. There's also a good amount of detail on the building All in all, a great set that's a must-have if you like The Hobbit.

First Hobbit set

This is my first hobbit set! It's really nice that the set can be attached to the Dol Guldur Battle Pros The minifigures have cool printing and nice hair pieces. Nice little catapult Cons The only negative thing about this set is that Beorn's face is a sticker. Overall a great little set.

good for play but a little over priced

pros- -good minifigs lots of detail esp on the orcs detail on the main part of the set -very sturdy -lots of features> catapult, swinging axes, swinging hammer, and the flickfire missile cons- -beorns head/hair is ONE PIECE I would have liked to see those pieces seperated -a fast build for twenty dollars Overall a good set a bit pricy but worth the money

Overall
These lands are crawling with Orcs.

This set, while a little low on playability by itself (just because of the amount of minifigures. It's only a twenty buck set.), goes great with the Dol Guldur Battle so is totally worth getting. GATE OF DOL GULDUR: The main part of this set is the little rocky overhang to walk into Dol Guldur. It is built mostly by gray bricks with a few vines and such to give it that haunted, overgrown castle look. There's not much else to say about it; it has a feature where a chunk of rock and some axes can swing out to hit somebody who is walking through the gate. The Orcs also have a miniature catapult, which obviously launches rocks. MINIFIGURES: -Beorn: The skin-changer is the highlight in this set, an exclusive figure who, while as of yet, has not been at Dol Guldur, is a great guy to have to beat up orcs. He has brown legs and a mostly bare torso, wearing fur and armor. His head is permanently inside his long hair/beard piece, which I would have preferred otherwise, so that his face could have another expression besides angry. He is armed with an axe and is a very formidable opponent for the orcs and a great ally for the dwarves. -Orcs: There are two orcs that come in this set, the same as all the other orcs save that these two have hair pieces. One is armed with a mace and one with a sword. Always good to have more bad guys. OVERALL: It's a really big thing to have Dol Guldur Battle before or right after you get the Ambush, otherwise it'll get boring and low on playability. But as long as you have that, this is a great set with a rare minifigure and a satisfying purchase.

Overall
Mini Dol Guldur

A great set to combine with 79014 (Dol Guldur Battle). The minifigures are a great selection and the playability is great. Beorn: His face is actually attached to his beard and hair for those who didn't know and his weapon is a medium sized axe. Gundabad Orcs: Finally we have some more orcs with hairpieces rather than bald ones. One orc has an armour piece with spikes which looks quite cool. I think it shows he is a higher rank than the one without it and their weapons are a flail and a sword. The set has a small double catapult with wheels and both work independently and come with a spare rock brick if you lose one. The set has an eerie, ruined and evil appearance with the great wall details, the skulls, the spikes and the rotting tree . There is also a secret opening rock that fires a flick missile. The main traps are the swinging axes and large hammer which you can rotate via a brick to knock a figure over. Pros: Figures, features, detailing, catapult and the fact that you can combine it with set 79014 Cons: Beorn's face should be separate and double sided. There should also be a bear because Beorn can morph into one. I rate it an 8/10

Overall
An excellent set

Like probably a lot of people out there, I bought this set mainly for Beorn, but soon found out it was way more than just a relatively cheap ($40 in Aus) way to get Beorn. It is also a battered and weathered secret entrance, filled with surprising, if a tad unrealistic, booby traps. First off I will go over the two orcs included in this set. These two are exclusive simply because of the inclusion of hairpieces, which makes the orc with shoulder armour look like the king of all orcs when compared to any other. Beorn is certainly the star of this set, with very accurate torso and leg printing. He also has a really awesome head/hair piece, which is all one single mold. This gives him extra height as well as prevents the head piece from getting stuck in the hair piece (a problem i have had with Balin), but also means he is stuck with a battle cry/yelling face, which isn't good if you want him to be helping the dwarves. The first build in this set is the double catapult, which i think is quite cool for the small number of pieces. The gateway build is quick and relatively easy. It looks excellent when combined with Dol Guldur Battle and even looks good standing alone. The dark flesh tooth pieces around he door really accentuate it and make it look more evil. Overall, this a decent set, even though nothing like this really happened in the movie. It isn't really a good orc army builder as the gateway can only connect to the fortress on one side, which is a shame as this set has the best orcs i have ever seen (aside from Uruk Hai). Definitely a great set, especially when combined with the Dol Gulder battle.

Overall
Not movie accurate, but still cool

I wanna start by saying that this set isn't movie accurate at all! 1st of all, beorn isn't ever in dol guldur, 2nd of all, there are no traps in dol guldur, at least in the film. But it is still cool that we get beorn in a set at all. But enough of that, now to the pros and cons, Pros, Beorn fig is good 2 orcs Fun traps! Cool double catapult Cons, Not movie accurate, Why a FLICK MISSILE!!!??? Now this is a nice set that is worth 20 dollars, though there are some issues, like why on earth did lego put a flick missile in this set? And why did lego put beorn in this set? But is still nice to get him in a cheaper set. Orcs look good with that dark orange skin color. Thanks for reading

Overall
BEORN!

I think this sweet set is worth buying- for sure! I received this yesterday as a gift, and it was a great present! It is a quick, easy, enjoyable build worth buying for the mini figures alone. THE BUILD: I think the set itself is great. I like the look of it when added onto Dol Guldur Battle, but it looks great by itself as well. There are a few functions that are great for a small set like this one. Though the colour scheme is mostly grey, you do get a few interesting bricks and pieces. THE MINIFIGS: ..............Hands down the best part of the set. The minifgs make the set worth buying! BEORN! Beorn's headpiece is so unique and accurate, I can't even describe it. After seeing the movie, I completely fangirled when I saw the figure! Everything from the hair to the face to the clothing print was so accurate. The $25 for this set is worth it because of Beorn. The Gundabad orcs are also cool, as this set can be used as an army builder in the Hobbit line. I love their new colour and especially their shoulder plates with the fangs/spikes. Awesome. In conclusion, if you have any doubts about this set, buy it because Beorn makes it worth it. The orcs are also great to add to your mini fig army! Peace out! :)
