Product Description

Tag Activity Storybook Disney Princess: Adventures Under the Sea - Complete package - LeapFrog Tag Reading System

Read and swim along with Ariel and Flounder as they explore a sunken boat loaded with treasures! Find out what happens when they're surprised by an unwelcome visitor and their adventure takes an unexpected turn! After the story, play leveled learning activities with Cinderella and Jasmine that help build vocabulary, reading comprehension and phonics skills. Plus, connect the Tag Reader online to the LeapFrog Learning Path to see what your child is learning. Tag books work with the Tag Reader to bring books to life like never before. As children touch the Tag Reader to the pages of this specially printed activity storybook, a small camera in the tip "reads" the pages, enabling children to hear words and stories read aloud. Characters, pictures and learning activities spring to life with every touch, immersing children in the thrill of reading.

  • Listening and reading comprehension
As children develop comprehension of books read aloud or independently, they explore the uses and functions of written language. They begin to construct meaning, eventually applying critical skills to make inferences and draw conclusions.
  • Subject knowledge
Children learn about the world through stories. In turn, they use the knowledge they gain to comprehend other stories, both fiction and nonfiction, more fully, building their general knowledge and increasing their vocabulary across subject areas.
  • Vocabulary
While infants and toddlers learn vocabulary by memory, older children use word structure and context to help understand the meaning of a word. They identify synonyms and antonyms. They use prefixes, suffixes and base words to build their own vocabulary.
  • Grammar
Understanding the rules that govern the use of language, including standard usage (such as selecting the right word) and mechanics (such as punctuation conventions) help children in speaking and writing.
  • Phonics skills
Before they can read independently, children must learn the relationship of letters to their sounds and be able to distinguish individual sounds, or phonemes, within words. Phonics skills help children sounds out new words.
  • Word recognition
As children learn to read, they must be able to "decode" the words they don't know - to translate strings of letters into words. Eventually they can recognize common words that can't be sounded out (the, said, she).
  • Book and print basics
A child's early experiences with books greatly influence his ability to learn to read. Reading together helps a child learn how to turn pages one at a time and that text moves from left to right. Advanced readers learn how to use books for research.
