Works well in relatively small room - easy to maintain
I bought this humidifier for my office, where the winter weather caused the humidity in the room to go below 15%. With this machine, I can get it up to 40%, which is ideal to me. I researched portable humidifiers and came to the conclusion that a cool mist wicking humidifier is the best way to go. I heard a lot of comments about people not liking this type because you have to keep buying new filters. Well, I would rather have to replace filters than have all the left over **** in the water end up in the room or in the machine. With a wick, maintenance is much easier. Even though the instructions say to clean the machine daily with a more intensive cleaning with bleach once per week, I find that this is excessive. I just rinse the tank and bottom of the unit out with clear water whenever it needs refilling, which for me is every other day. I have had this machine for 2 months and just changed the filter for the first time.
