I bought this vacuum for my Mom nearly a decade ago and still works excellent.

Recently though, the plastic near the handle broke and it's a little tricky getting the nozzle into the handle. But once I do get it in, it still works great.

I've used this time and time again over the years, with pets in the house and without, and the suction at 12 amps is great.

The attachments are also very useful particularly the crevice as I use it all the time to finish off every room. It's especially useful in hard to reach places like under sofas or corners. I also use it to suck up dust from tables and dvd crevices. I've also used it to dust lamps and blinds and curtains. Just be careful not to suck the curtain right in.

I have to say that using this vacuum made me love vacuuming. I love that freshly vacuumed look of carpets. It really brightens up a room.

It's not that bulky or heavy as I've carried it up stairs. I'm a petite person so this wasn't a problem. I love how the nozzle swivels around so it's easy to maneuver. The long plastic hose, or whatever you call it, has lasted through many pulls and tugs over the years and it still remains intact.

Also the cord is retractable which is easy and convenient. Just give it a tug and it reels right in.

I like the convenience of the bags because they are easier to change than bagless vacuums. I've tried bagless vacuums and it makes a mess when trying to empty out it's contents. And with allergies, that's not good. But with the bags, you just need to pull out the bag with little or no mess.

I've never tried the dyson or other expensive brands but what more do you need in a vacuum. This is more than enough. I would definitely recommend this product.

Now that I need a vacuum for myself as I'm married, this was at the top of my list and planning on getting one. I believe it's worth the investment and expect it to last me through the years.

I spent a lot of time reviewing canisters on **************** and chose this one based on its rating. I like the Sears/Kenmore brands and haven't been disappointed with my purchase.

It has great suction, a PowerMate attachment that works wonders getting up dog hair from furniture and stairs, and it's easy to maneuver. The other attachments are easy to use, work well and fit compactly within the body of the canister.

Overall, I love this vacuum. If I could change anything, it would be to make it a bit lighter. Otherwise, it's a solid workhorse that gets the job done efficiently and makes me happy I made my purchase.

This vacuum has gone through hell and keeps on going. It is near the end of its' life and we plan on replacing it with another Kenmore. I will become a vac to only clean our cars.

Well, of course, that isn't true and, after all, it is a piece of equipment that we become very dependent upon and use several times per week. I needed a solid vacuum, that didn't cost $500, because most of my apartment is bare wooden floors with only one rug in the living room. But, it is a good-sized rug and required more than a light-weight to clean well. This vacuum works very well and has what they call a "pet powermate" that allows you to clean pet hair off the furniture. A great feature for those of us with a cat or dog. It is a really good piece of equipment - not the top of the line - but then the price isn't either. I would recommend it.
