A vent closes during the washing and rinsing to hold moisture and sound inside. When the vent opens, the water on the dishes evaporates into drier air and the venting process continues. This Kenmore 24-inch dishwasher has NSF Sanitize Cycle, which eliminates 99.999% of food-borne bacteria.
