Trick for no rust. Use Olive oil on curtain rod.
It will last a month but clean and olive oil it everytime I clean my shower which is once a week. I have been using Olive oil for years now and have had my shower curtain rod for over 6 years now.
I bought the bronze color rod and the matching bronze colored hooks (both rod and hooks are metal) about 3 months ago. The shower is used daily by two people, so it sees a lot of action. The rod and matching hooks go quite well together and look great in our bathroom. However, the equipment did NOT stand up to the humidity in the bathroom. The hooks and rod scrapped one another, removing the surface coating, proning the rod to rust. The top surface, which of course was scratched up the most from the hooks, rusted severely, in three months time. I didn't notice the rusting (because I'm very short) until my cats pulled down the curtain and rod. I noticed when I was putting it back up that I had red nastiness from the rust all over my hands. See attached picture (The top and bottom are both rusted bc I twisted it around to see how quickly it would take to rust again. Answer: Not long, about a week). So it's probably been rusty a while, and I hadn't noticed.
In summary, if you need something that'll look nice and see limited use (probably a spare bathroom), this may be the way to go. However, if you're expecting to get a product that'll last a long time, hold up to lots of use and not be damaged easily by hooks, think again.
I will be purchasing a new rod, probably plastic, and one that is wall mounted so the cats will have a harder time pulling it down.

Our bathroom was outdated and I was able to go to Kmart and get a silver curtain rod and rings at a very reasonable price that updated our bathroom tremendously for only 20.00... So thanks Kmart for always being greatly priced and trustworthy items..

This shower rod is very easy to install. The springs work nicely to hold it into place. Also, it does NOT rust! This is a big plus, because many of the metal shower rods start to rust and will ruin your shower curtain.
