I love love love the Dyson DC39. It is the best vacuum I have had by far and I am 61! It work great, easy to use, not cheap plastic, lightweight enough that I can easily carry it upstairs, and it cleans great. I have a long haired German Shepherd Dog and I was amazed at the amount of hair this vacuum picked up when I first used it. I would highly recommend this product. I do not plan to buy another vacuum again that isn't a Dyson and hope this one will last a long, long time..

This vacuum keeps blowing my circuit breaker after use of 3 mos. The beater brush stopped working and the suction was never really very strong. I went from a Kenmore to an Oreck to this. Kenmore and Oreck were great, but I was convinced to purchase this and I am very surprised at the problems I have had with this product.

I purchased this vacuum about a year ago after my beloved Kenmore Progressive died (after 7 years of almost daily use) because everyone I know said "oooh get a dyson. I love my dyson." And so I figured, why not. It's expensive but my Kenmore lasted 7 years and that's half the price. Well, all that glitters is not gold. This has to be the worst purchase I have ever made. I have all hardwoods and tile floors, and 3 scatter rugs. It picks up some dirt but that's about it. I have 2 toddlers and as anyone knows, food falls on the floor. This doesn't pick up dried-up rice, cheerios, smashed goldfish crackers, let alone anything 'heavy' like a kernel of corn or a pea. I mistakenly ran over 1 tissue and it clogged up the canister! The bagless system is messy. The attachments are a pain/useless. It takes me 30 minutes to vacuum a 850 sq ft space of HARDWOODS....with my Kenmore it took 10 minutes and it was way cleaner. I hate this vacuum so much I'm sweeping floors with a broom.

It's called a multi floor. it's a very expensive household item and an item I've wanted since I was in my early 20s. It's not multi floor if I need to go and purchase and additional hard floor tool. I didn't think to check, because its said multi floor. It's stingy not to include it and misleading to say multi floor, when I have a head that pushes dust around on my hard floors. Otherwise it's the most spectacular appliance I've ever owned and its lovely in every way, including usability and function. There's a reason why there's one in MOMA.

Best vacuum I have used. Goes over hard wood to area rug with ease. It does not scratch my high gloss hard wood floors which other vacuums in the past have. I have a large dog that sheds a lot, this vacuum does a great job on all surfaces. The wand is so light and easy to go everywhere even under the bed! It has high suction power so a small area rug will sort of suction to it, simply stand on one side of the rug and vacuume the other way then switch. Its not a big deal at all. The larger area rugs are no problem at all. Any vacuum will do that so its easy enough to stand on one side of the small rug to hold it in place. Super light weight, this is easy on the back! I pull it around with ease. The wand is lightweight enough to lift up high and take care of dust. The wand has a ball towards the bottom for great flexabiltiy. You can go under tight spaces and around furniture really fast. Also its so easy to empty the canister, you dont have to touch any dirt. I love it! I recommend it!

With 2 teen boys, a toddler, 2 big dogs and a cat, we really battle the dirt and hair. Our house has all hard flooring with some small rugs. Our Kirby (cost 3x as much!) was a pain to use on hard floors and irritatingly complicated to switch back and forth for rugs. As a bagged system, it kicked out a funky doggy smell every time we turned it on. The Dyson is not only quick and easy to use, we've noticed it truly knocks out the hair and dust/dander. Very powerful. Our house looks and feels cleaner, filters and fans are staying clean longer, and allergies are down. I bought the dusting and pet kits, and we routinely vacuum the dogs to keep shedding in the house to a minimum (thinking about trying it on the boys, too. JK). I don't think this Dyson model would work well on carpets, but it's the best on hard floors, rugs, baseboards, dusting surfaces, blinds, and pets! Attachments make it multi-purpose in a snap, and for a hairy home you can't beat bagless! We love it.
The canister vac put an end to scratches we got from the dyson upright

I've been living in my RV for the past 10 years & we had a little vacuum for our little space. When I went looking for my new one for my new house I checked Consumer Report & choose a Dyson. When I got to Sears & saw the cannister DC39, I fell in love. When I got it home I was very happy. We now have a townhome & it is easy to transport up stairs. The best part is seeing everything going in as you vacuum. What I've missed for the past 10 years!
