    Great Product!
This is a great vacuum. The suction is awesome and it is very easy and light to use. A lot of the negative reviews state that the suction is too strong for area carpets and such. However, the triggers at the top of the extension arm reduce the suction in such situations so you can run the vacuum over area carpets. People just need to use these features and they will see how effective the vacuum is over all surfaces. Also, I had a problem with the turbine head. It stopped spinning so I called Dyson and they sent me a new one which works great, I thought I would have to pay for a new head and was surprised that they were willing to send me another one, no questions asked. Great service in that respect. This is by far the best and easiest vacuum to use that I have ever owned and I have owned a lot of different vacuums through the years. I was skeptical at first but am now convinced.

    WORST VACUUM EVER
I purchased this vacuum about a year ago after my beloved Kenmore Progressive died (after 7 years of almost daily use) because everyone I know said "oooh get a dyson. I love my dyson." And so I figured, why not. It's expensive but my Kenmore lasted 7 years and that's half the price. Well, all that glitters is not gold. This has to be the worst purchase I have ever made. I have all hardwoods and tile floors, and 3 scatter rugs. It picks up some dirt but that's about it. I have 2 toddlers and as anyone knows, food falls on the floor. This doesn't pick up dried-up rice, cheerios, smashed goldfish crackers, let alone anything 'heavy' like a kernel of corn or a pea. I mistakenly ran over 1 tissue and it clogged up the canister! The bagless system is messy. The attachments are a pain/useless. It takes me 30 minutes to vacuum a 850 sq ft space of HARDWOODS....with my Kenmore it took 10 minutes and it was way cleaner. I hate this vacuum so much I'm sweeping floors with a broom.

    Amazing

Today I bought the display of this vacuum because it was at a price I couldn't deny. I was nervous to use it because I thought it would be like every other vacuum. I was surely mistaken it is the best vacuum cleaner that I have ever owned. It picked up dog hair and dirt I didn't know my other vacuums were leaving behind. I am nothing short of impressed with this device. my favorite thing I own.

    I expected better

I wish I had not purchased this Dyson. It clogs very easily, and it's a pain to get the clogs out. It fills up easily and I have to repeatedly empty the canister while housecleaning--I only had to do that once every month or so when I used a vacuum that had a bag. Further, the carpet attachment does not work well at all. The brush frequently stops spinning in the middle of vacuuming. When I take it out and look for a clog, half the time there isn't one. Then I put it back together and the brush won't spin at all. I The suction is so strong that it only works with heavy carpeting--it's impossible to vacuum small area rugs with the Dyson. In fact, it sucks up things that are large enough to clog it. OR, the carpet brush stops working correctly and there's barely any suction at all. I am incredibly frustrated that a product with such a good reputation has given me such shoddy performance.

    The Best

I've owned various vacuums over the years with this Dyson Animal getting top marks. Not only is it a powerful vacuum, it is lightweight, versatile and easy to handle. You will not be disappointed.

    great vacuum

I chose the canister over the upright because I have raised furniture that can be vacuumed under easily. The flat floor attachment is worth it, it does a much better job than the flat floor/carpet attachment. I saved 20% when I bought the vacuum which more than covered the price I had to pay for the attachment. I have all flat floors. The suction is great and I have no complaints about the length of the cord. It moves around much easier than my old canister and is much lighter.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

    Great on Hardwood Floors!

I have been using this machine since January 2013. The first one I bought had a little plastic clip break when I was putting it together. I took it to a local repair and he suggested I return it to Macy's. Macy's Fed Ex'd another within a week. I got this during the Christmas sale so I decided to take the plunge on what seemed like a lot of money for a vacuum. The Pros: This vacuum has great suction. It moves easily and gets into small places. I like the two attachments. The brush gets into corners and baseboard under the bed, etc. It has brought the fun back to vacuuming. The Cons: My first disappointment was how cheaply it appears to be made ... and the clip breaking on the first one purchased. The canister gets dust caught up in places that don't come out when you release it (I have a new appreciation for bags). Do not buy this vacuum if you have carpeted floors or a lot of area rugs. I bought this for hardwoods but on the few area rugs I have the motorized attachment shuts down. It's not a problem with just a few rugs. You simply push the button on the top of the handle and it reduces the suction enough to clean rugs but I would not want to clean an entire carpeted house with this vacuum. Overall I would recommend this vacuum. I am concerned how much dust will eventually collect in the canister that is impossible to get out. I have bad allergies and I can tell it has helped me by reducing the dust. Previously I used a Swiffer duster and I did a test using the Swiffer after vacuuming and it collected almost no dust.
