Dyson  DC33 Multi-Floor Upright Vacuum Cleaner

This vac is fairly quiet, great suction, and the telescoping wand reaches anywhere. It's exactly what I wanted. The only slight problem I had was the small number of attachments that came with it for the price paid.

Picks up everything! I can feel a difference in my carpets when I touch them (no more dirt stuck way down in the threads), easy to use, powerful, and design is great

the is BY FAR the best vaccum EVER made!! i will never own another brand other than dyson! Every person that i know that has one will tell you the same thing. they are pricy, but worth EVERY penny!!

I finally have a vacuum that will easily go from carpet, tile, to hardwood. My husband gave me a Dyson for my birthday and I could not be happier. Soo excited over my Dyson!! Great product, Light, great suction, easy dirt disposal, and just beautiful!!

This is our first Dyson and we are less than impressed so far. The suction is quite good, but we can barely use it on any of our rugs or carpeted areas due to the terribly loud ratcheting noise that occurs every time. This problem has been present from day one, and we've only owned the vacuum for about 2 months. Searching on the web I find that this is due to the beater bar becoming stuck and the clutch ratcheting, typically due to too much suction being applied to area rugs. We have the problem with our 1 area rug, as well as with our other carpet, and the issue is so prevalent that we're just about to give up, as it is making the vacuum unusable. Honestly, we expected much better from the Dyson name.

We like it well enough; the only problem it seems to have is that it doesn't like shag carpet (yes, we still have one room with that old stuff!). Not as easy to switch from bare floor to carpet as our old Kenmore was, either.

I currently own a DC18 which has done a wonderful job for 5 years. Bought this product last night as a replacement for my DC18 and assembled it right away. Pulling out the attachments on this product is not as easy as the DC18 that you only need to pull out the attachments without pressing anything. After a few minutes of trying it out, my arms were already tired and aching as it is quite heavy. Just the cord itself is already heavy and although it is longer than the DC18, i found it annoying as it gets in the way. Will be returning this product and try out the DC40.

This vaccuum is quite new. I havent used it enough yet to rate it. It seems very good, except that I am still a big fan of the good old Electrolux canister vaccuum cleaners from 20 years ago. Their suction was way more powerful to my memory.

I was very excited to replace my 16 year old vacuum with the Dyson DC33 - until I got it home and used it on my new carpet. It was nearly impossible to push! The carpet is a thicker cut pile carpet, but not as long as a frize or shag. I called Dyson and they suggested I remove a rubber strip from the bottom to increase air flow, which I did. This helped a little and made it slightly easier to push, but I am still disappointed with the difficulty of use on carpet. The customer service rep I spoke to said that this particular model is known for that problem on higher pile carpet and I should try a different model. Perhaps they should amend the writing on the box to "For every floor type - EXCEPT high quality carpet". On a positive note, it worked great on my hardwoods and tile. It also worked well on the stairs, although the hose and attachments are cumbersome as many reviewers have already covered. I would recommend it for a home with bare floors and/or Berber style carpet.
