Dirt Devil Canister Vacuum Cleaner SD10010 December 22, 2010

Machine is quiet and with a powerful suction. Instruction manual does not provide enough information. It does not address anything about the light on top or whistle that signals a clogged filter or hose. I found that the foam filter and paper filter in the canister does a very good job of filtering the air but also becomes clogged rapidly. I found it should be cleaned each time the canister is emptied. The manual did not address any of this adequately. We have had this machine for approximately 8 months and has worked externally well up to now. I was using the machine the other day and had to move the power cord to another outlet. I didn't turn off the machine at switch I just unplugged it and plugged it into another outlet. I heard an arcing sound and the motor died. I will take it to a repair dealer for repair as it is still under warranty. Other than that the unit performed very well.

    I wouldn't buy it again November 10, 2010

My husband and I were looking for an 'affordable' canister vaccum.  We purchased this one a few months ago.  I have just spent the last hour  attempting to vaccum my floor  -3 mins of which the vaccum actually worked.  The attachment for floors, in my opinion is cheap foreign plastic design.  Not worth the money, not durable, and does not perform.  We are probably going to have to go back to using our $45 wet/dry vac, at least it has performed its duty well, and doesn't have all the issues that these 'modern' cheap foreign made appliances have.  Thanks for nothing Dirt Devil. :)

I would NOT recommend this vac May 22, 2012

My prvious Dirt Devil was fantastic, giving me many yrs of service. I hoped this one would be the same. My complaint is the same as all the others. It lost suction. I cleaned it after each use. Purchased 2nd set of filters, all to no avail. When I contacted customer service, they said sounds like may be a belt, take it to service center.

    Horrible Vacuum October 06, 2011

    Pros:
    Costs less than $100
    Cons:
    It exists

I never ever write reviews for products but just felt I had to for this one.  I agree with the other reviewer.  I wish I could've given this vacuum zero stars.  It worked great when I first bought it, but that only lasted about a handful of times.  I cleaned the brushes and filters regularly and emptied the canister after every use, but the vacuum lost its suction power after less than a dozen uses.  I contacted customer service at Dirt Devil.  They told me to visit one of their local servicers.  I believed that because there was a 2-year warrantee on the vacuum, he would be able to help me for free.  He ran a test on the vacuum and told me that something was clogging the motor and he would have to clean it, but it would cost $50.  I asked him about the warrantee, and he said that the warrantee does not cover cleanings.  Considering that I paid less than $100 for the vacuum, spending $50 for him to clean it seemed a bit absurd.  I contacted Dirt Devil customer service again and they were not helpful in resolving the issue, so the vacuum went in the trash.  DO NOT BUY THIS VACUUM.  Even though it is cheap in price, you will not get your money?s worth out of it.

If you empty it regularly, it's great. A joy to vacuum with September 18, 2011

The dirt capture chambers and filters are compact, so they need to be cleaned regularly.  But it's very easy to clean.

I thought it would be pointless to have the suction power control, but honestly, the suction is so strong I actually turn it down, to make the wand move more easily on the floor.  I am shocked it's so strong.

Easy to carry, move, store, comfortable, elegant, I simply love it.  Plus my wife says it's cute.  ;-)
