Great functions for the price. 50amp Start with auto shut off.
I have had a couple chargers over the past 10 years. This one seems well built. It has a 50 amp start function for $40. It appears to be a great value after looking at a few other stores and online.

DieHard Automatic Battery Charger
Bought this in the beginning of 12/08. Worked good charging my motorcycle, lawn tractor and car batteries. Then one day not long after the 3 year warranty expired, so did it. Attached it to my motorcycle battery one day and there was a loud bang from inside the unit and lots of smoke. Didn't work after that.

Got Me Going
I'm old and only drive about 3 to 10 miles a week, mostly to the store and back (I'm not little and not an old lady). That means that my battery is often too low to start the car. I had a Sears charger that was 60 years old that would get me going after 6 hours but that lead to a bunch of canceled doctor & dentist appointments along with my not being able to get to the store when I wanted. I saw this, got it and used it for the first time today. Hooked it up started the car, unhooked it, went to the store (left the car locked and running), came home and put it on trickle. Hardly but a dent in my day. Now whether it lasts for 60 years, that I don't know.

I was expecting bigger clips like the ones on my jumper cables. The 10 amp setting worked fine to bring the charge up and the 2 amp setting topped it off.

Terrible Clips
I bought one of these a while back and have only used it a dozen times if that. The clips at the end of the copper wires have both broken off. Now I don't even know what one was positive and what one was negative to attemp to put them back on. I had a much earlier model from over 20 years ago that I have used a gazillion times and it is still working to this day. I "ASSUMED" this one would be as good. NOT. I got this because it had a 50amp boost and my old one didn't.
