Great addition to my shop

Most used tool in my shop! It's exactly what I expected when I got the high-end craftsman professional series. Good features that I didn't see on the other models. Very easy to set angle. Plenty of power. I really like the hold down features. The dust collection is iffy, but good enough.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

A must have for the "IN HOUSE" craftsman

I used to do all my cutting with a circular saw ( Craftsman ) and always worried that I would cut my fingers off or make a bad cut.  I constantly complained to my wife how if I only had the right saw... how much work I could get done.  Well.... she bought me this 10 inch sliding compound saw with laser trac, and I could not be happier.  It has cut through everything with precision and has made my work timely as well as precise.  The motor is extremely strong and has never bogged down during a cut.  I would recommend this product to others as it has quality built in ( which is what I expect from Craftsman ).  Well worth the price....!!!

The Miter Saw is a great deal!

After purchasing a Miter saw from *****, we saw this one at Sears that was a much better deal at the same price.  So we returned the ***** saw and bought the Craftsman and have had no issues with it.  Used for cutting composite decking material.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great Miter Saw

This miter saw can be fine-tuned for squareness before making super-accurate cuts.  It also needs to be adjusted as such, since the slider tubes and fence will likely not be perfect "as received".  Once adjusted, the saw works great.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Wanted something good

I wanted a good sliding compound miter saw with out braking the bank. I looked at many and ended up with this one by choice of it being on sale. I was nurvice at first because of some of the reviews i read i wanted a accureate saw. I did have to do some adjusting out of the box but every thing has stayed in place and it woorks well. I did get a better blade though for when i want to do trim an 80 tooth craftsman and i like it cuts awesome.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Certainly has the potential...

I'm an "after-5:00" craftsman. I needed a sliding miter saw to cleanly cut through 10" panels jointed with red oak boards for a variety of projects. I was able to make enough adjustments to get a precision cut when the boards are cut by only dropping the saw down and not sliding it. However, the fence on the right side of the blade is not flush with the left. it is off by perhaps two degrees. If the piece only passes the blade by an inch or two I'm OK. Otherwise the cut is not a perfect 90 degrees. When cutting anything using the sliding feature, and doing so by way of the instructions, the saw needs to be fully extended, dropped then slid back. This produces a parabolic cut which is irritating on many fronts. I also can't actually figure out what part of the machine is enabling this "curve." The only thing I can pinpoint perhaps is the way the bearings are packed. I also noticed too that the bevel stop is in fact off on this machine like others at the 45 degree mark. The other part that is particularly annoying is that the screws holding the bevel stop bracket are neither metric or english. I had to replace the screws with something that I cold adjust with an allen wrench that I could actually make fit. Over all this saws capabilities are there. It seems to be made well and the dust collection works wonders when the saw is used properly. It certainly is not a shop-worthy tool in its current condition but I hope that can change. I purchased an extended master protection agreement so this will have to go back and be revamped with a new fence and perhaps new bearings. I'm giving it four stars as I believe Sears can get this thing to 100% working condition. I'll update when I receive the unit back.

Overall
nice miter (but has some issues)

I'd prefer to express these issues privately to craftsman (but can't find a link) so i suppose they want me to do it publicly in this forum.

pic 1.)  clamp gets in the way while making angled cuts.

pic 2.)  platform extensions need an adjustment lever/knob to control height. (pic 3.)  clamping when extended causes wood (pic 4.) to rise on the laser end of the cut. (pic 5.)  so just don't clamp out past the main platform you say (pic 3. again)?  you can't because the motor hits the clamp while coming down.

pic 6.)  sawdust/small wood chips get stuck inthe small "sump" area directly underneath the cutting area.  fortunately i've mounted the miter with easy to remove wing nuts so i can pick it up and flip it over to eject these pieces (weighs nearly 53lbs.  an awkward 53lbs to flip up side down i might add)

pics 7. & 8.)  just an idea - my circlular saw is a "worm drive" saw which uses a gear to redirect the torque allowing the motor to be mounted parallel to the blade (and much closer), this might allow a miter saw to angle in both directions.  get to it engineers

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good quality, handy features

This is a well constructed saw with one very handy feature.  I worked with several miter saws from Craftsman over the years when I was working as a professional aircraft mechanic.  In my experience, the larger miter saws made truer cuts and were easier to align properly for cutting wood and piping.  And this saw is the perfect size.  Plus the sliding feature allows making multiple cuts on one piece of stock super easy.  I never rely on the lasers for aligning the cuts, the platform provides all the alignment contol you need.
