Craftsman's green single stage snow thower 2004 is great!! February 12, 2010

Love this machine!!  I justed cleared two huge storms with this green machine. I have had it for a number of years, but these storms were good tests.     Here are my suggestions for buyers of this machine.  1. Always use fuel with a stabliler. 2. Keep the carb clean, either at time of tune up or use a liquid cleaner in the fuel tank.  3.  Change the oil. after each season.   4.  WHen using the machine, form the letter "V" in the snow.  Alternate, left then right.  5.  Blow in the direction of the wind.   6. Aim away from windows.  7. If you are expecting over 7-8 inches then try to clear the driveway in two sessions.  one at six and one at the end.

This is a great machine. The only draw back I've had in the past 2 years is the rubber hose running from the primer button to the engine splits on the end and will not prime or start. It requires taking the housing apart, cutting the hose and reattaching it. Time consuming and can be very frustrating. I've had to do it twice now and that's alot of bolts. You also have to take the igniton switch off.

This is a good snowblower. It handles deep snow in one pass and has a good variety of speeds depending upon the conditions. I have had no problems to speak of and no complaints. I have used in multiple times. I would mention that it is hard to turn in very tight places. That does not happen often & is true of all snowblowers this size.

The machine works well but imagine my surprise whe I took the unit for service and found out the B&S motor on my unit bought in Nov. 2005 was build in 1989 and was really a 3.5 hp. I wonder how many more of these units, including new o7/08 models are build likewise.
